Roblox Sees Significant Growth Opportunities on Consoles

A recent analysis by Newzoo, in collaboration with Gamefam, reveals that while the majority of Roblox's daily active users are on mobile, the game is experiencing substantial growth on other platforms. Since its release on PlayStation in October 2023, Roblox has captured around 3% of total playtime on the console, accumulating 374 million hours in Q2 2025. According to Gamefam CEO Joe Ferencz, there is a significant opportunity for Roblox to expand its console presence. Ferencz notes that console players expect high-fidelity gaming experiences, and if Roblox can deliver high-quality graphics with low latency, it can attract more players on console. Newzoo's data shows that players over 13 years old are the fastest-growing demographic on Roblox, with a 54% year-over-year growth in Q2 2025. To attract more players across different age brackets, Ferencz suggests that Roblox needs to allow for more depth and variety in game design and graphics. He believes that by doing so, players will have less incentive to leave the platform as they get older. The key to success on Roblox, according to Newzoo and Gamefam, is cultural relevance rather than AAA polish. Many top Roblox games have been created by small teams or individuals in a short period, making it challenging for AAA developers to compete. Newzoo market analysis manager Tianyi Gu highlights the potential of Roblox as an incubator for new and existing intellectual properties, citing partnerships between Gamefam and companies like Sega and Paramount Games Studio as examples.
