Roblox Game Developer Takes Fortnite Creative to Court Over Alleged Copyright Infringement

The creator of the popular Roblox game Steal a Brainrot, Spyder Games, has filed a lawsuit against a Fortnite Creative game developer, alleging copyright infringement. According to reports, the lawsuit was filed in a California court and accuses Thomas Van Der Voort of copying various elements from Steal a Brainrot, including its artwork, objects, and design, for his Fortnite Creative game, Stealing Brainrots. Spyder Games obtained the copyright for Steal a Brainrot in August, after launching the game in May 2025. The lawsuit asserts that the similarities between the two games are not merely due to their shared genre, but rather the result of deliberate copying by the defendant. Spyder Games is seeking damages, including both actual and punitive damages, as well as attorney fees and a permanent injunction against Van Der Voort.
