Massive Entertainment Staff Offered Voluntary Buyouts by Ubisoft
Ubisoft's Swedish-based subsidiary, Massive Entertainment, has been offered a chance for staff to take voluntary redundancy. This move is part of the company's long-term strategy and evolution, focusing on The Division series and key technologies like the Snowdrop engine. A statement from the studio explained that the 'voluntary career transition program' is designed to support staff in their career transitions, providing a comprehensive package that includes financial and career support. Massive Entertainment, known for Tom Clancy's The Division series and recent work on Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, is undergoing this change as part of Ubisoft's broader restructuring efforts. The program, open until December 15, 2025, is reportedly aimed at permanent contract holders waiting for new project assignments, offering severance pay and professional training financing to those who participate. This news follows Ubisoft's recent announcement of a restructuring proposal for its Finland-based studio, RedLynx, which may affect up to 60 employees, citing the need to reduce costs and improve efficiency across its studios.
