The US gaming market experienced a significant surge in September, with total spending reaching $4.8 billion, driven by the successful launch of Borderlands 4 and strong sales of the new Switch 2 hardware. According to Circana, Borderlands 4 dominated the US charts, debuting at number one and achieving the highest launch month sales in the franchise's history, with a 30% increase in sales compared to Borderlands 3 in 2019. The game's impressive performance has also earned it the third spot in year-to-date sales. Other notable releases, such as Ghost of Yōtei and NBA 2K26, also made a significant impact on the charts, with NBA 2K26 becoming the best-selling game of 2025 so far. The month saw a total of nine new titles enter the Top 20, including EA Sports FC 26, Madden NFL 26, and Silent Hill F. In the mobile sector, Sensor Tower reported that seven titles maintained their positions in the Top Ten, with Gossip Harbour and Royal Kingdom experiencing significant gains.
