Ubisoft Unveils Restructuring Plan for RedLynx Studio, Affecting Up to 60 Roles
Ubisoft has unveiled a restructuring proposal for its Finland-based subsidiary, RedLynx, as part of its global initiative to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency across its worldwide studio network. The proposed plan may impact up to 60 positions, primarily in production and administrative roles. However, the technology team working on the Snowdrop game engine will remain unaffected. RedLynx, known for developing the popular Trials racing series, will hold collective negotiations with its staff before a decision is made on the proposal. Scheduled to take place on October 20, 2025, these negotiations are expected to conclude by the end of November. As part of the proposal, RedLynx would transition from a multi-platform studio to one specializing in small-screen devices, enabling the studio to optimize its resources and leverage its expertise in mobile game development, including two unannounced projects currently in the works. According to Ubisoft RedLynx managing director Celine Pasula, this proposal reflects the difficult choices the company must make after careful consideration, acknowledging the potential impact on individuals and teams. Pasula expressed confidence that the proposed changes would allow RedLynx to continue playing a significant role in Ubisoft's future, driving technical excellence on mobile devices and expanding the company's audience reach.
