Xbox Development Kit Prices Rise to $2000, Marking a 33% Increase

According to recent reports, Microsoft has increased the price of its Xbox Series X/S development kits from $1500 to $2000, representing a significant 33% surge. This change is said to be a result of broader economic factors and will affect developers worldwide, not just those in the US. In a statement to developers, Xbox expressed its ongoing dedication to delivering high-quality tools and support. This price adjustment follows closely on the heels of two recent price increases in the US and the introduction of higher rates for Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass subscription service, with the premium tier now costing $29.99/£22.99 per month, up from $19.99/£14.99. The price hike coincides with an expansion of the service, including the addition of Fortnite Crew and Ubisoft+ Classics to the Ultimate library, enhanced cloud gaming capabilities, and access to over 75 new releases annually.
