Owlcat Games Establishes Hub for Game Development Education
Owlcat Games has introduced a complimentary learning platform for game development, comprising more than 350 resources including software suggestions, instructional guides, and online educational programs. The initiative, dubbed GameDev Learning Drop, is the result of a partnership between Owlcat Games and several prominent studios, including Fireshine Games, 11 Bit Studios, Gaijin Entertainment, and Midwest Games, to develop an extensive database. According to PC Gamer, the developer plans to continually update and expand the GameDev Learning Drop by incorporating materials contributed by additional studios and publishers. 'Any developer or publisher is welcome to submit materials to the database, which are then reviewed, categorized, and curated to guarantee their quality,' stated Andrey Tsvetkov, Owlcat Games' head of publishing. 'Following a thorough review, the submissions are formatted into a structured and user-friendly resource accessible to the entire game development community.' New resources can be submitted via the GameDev Learning Drop website or by emailing contact@owlcat.games. Tsvetkov further emphasized, 'We strongly believe that promoting open knowledge encourages collaboration and connection, which is something the industry currently needs.' 'Given the abundance of materials available, it is beneficial to have human reviewers assess and identify truly useful content, particularly for junior developers.' Last year, Owlcat Games ventured into publishing, signing two RPG projects developed by Emotion Spark Studio and Another Angle Games. As part of its publishing services, the company provides emerging RPG developers with comprehensive support, including funding and expert guidance.
