Remedy Revises Financial Projections for 2025 Due to Disappointing FBC: Firebreak Sales
Remedy has issued a warning to investors regarding the underwhelming sales performance of its cooperative game FBC: Firebreak, prompting a revision of its long-term sales forecast and a significant adjustment to its financial outlook for 2025. The company has acknowledged a non-cash impairment of €14.9 million, which encompasses the majority of the game's development expenses, as well as the costs associated with publishing and distribution rights. As a result, Remedy now expects a decline in its operating profit for the year, contrary to its initial projections of increased revenue and operating profit. Despite the implementation of several updates, including a substantial update in September, the game has failed to meet the company's internal targets. Remedy's CEO, Tero Virtala, stated that the company will continue to develop and enhance the game in accordance with its revised sales forecast, while also rebalancing future investments in the title. The game's launch was described as 'rocky,' with the company expressing dissatisfaction with post-launch sales and acknowledging that the game underperformed on Steam, which was intended to be the primary sales channel for PC.
