Heart Machine Announces Second Round of Layoffs, Impacting Hyper Light Breaker Development
Los Angeles-based game development studio Heart Machine has confirmed a new round of layoffs, resulting in the departure of several talented team members. This move comes as the studio prepares to wind down the development of its early access title, Hyper Light Breaker. According to the studio, the decision to reduce its workforce was unavoidable due to unforeseen circumstances. Despite the challenges, Heart Machine is committed to delivering a meaningful and polished conclusion to Hyper Light Breaker, with a planned release in January. The studio has stated that it will focus on refining the game and completing key systems, but due to limited resources, no further updates or Q&A sessions will be held for the remainder of the year. This is the second round of layoffs for Heart Machine, following a similar move in November 2024. At the time, the studio assured that the job cuts would not hinder the development of Hyper Light Breaker, which launched in early access earlier this year.
