Discord Customer Support Breach Impacts 70,000 Users
In a recent update on October 10, 2025, Discord confirmed that a data breach at a third-party customer service provider has affected 70,000 of its users. According to the platform, the exposed data may include government-issued ID photos used for age-related appeals. Discord has assured that all affected users have been notified and the company is working closely with law enforcement, data protection authorities, and external security experts to address the issue. The company has secured the affected systems and terminated its partnership with the compromised vendor, emphasizing its commitment to protecting users' personal data. Initially reported on October 6, 2025, the breach involved unauthorized access to a third-party customer service provider used by Discord, resulting in the exposure of a limited number of government-issued IDs. The breached data includes names, Discord usernames, email addresses, payment types, IP addresses, and messages with customer service agents, as well as a small number of government-issued ID images from users who appealed age determinations. However, the breach did not compromise passwords, authentication data, full credit card numbers, or messages and activities beyond customer support discussions. Upon discovering the breach, Discord took immediate action, revoking the customer support provider's access, launching an internal investigation, and engaging law enforcement and a computer forensics firm. Affected users will receive notification emails from Discord, with specific notifications for those whose IDs were accessed.
