Rock Band 4 Set to Disappear from Stores After a Decade Due to Expired Licenses
On October 5, 2025, Rock Band 4 will be removed from the PlayStation and Xbox stores due to the expiration of its song licenses, which were initially issued 10 years ago. According to a message from Harmonix community manager Kyle Wynn on the game's Discord channel, players who have already purchased the game will still have full access to it, including the ability to download the game and any additional songs they have purchased to new devices. The removal from stores is a result of the core soundtrack's original licenses expiring. Wynn expressed gratitude to the community, stating, "If you already own the game, nothing changes - you'll keep full access and still be able to download the game and songs to any new, compatible devices. The same applies to Downloadable Content (DLC) - songs will come down as they hit the 10-year mark, but anything you've purchased will remain in your library." This announcement comes after Harmonix stopped releasing new Rock Band DLC in January 2024, following 16 years of releases.
