Applications Now Open for Scotland's Inaugural Games Accelerator Program

The Scottish Game Developers Association has launched the country's first-ever games accelerator program, backed by the Scottish government. The initiative, announced on September 24, 2025, will comprise nine in-person workshops scheduled between November 2025 and March 2026. These sessions, led by seasoned game industry professionals, will focus on key areas such as product development, funding strategies, and pitching to publishers. Participants will also receive guidance and support from experienced mentors. Throughout the program, teams will work on developing small game prototypes to apply their newfound knowledge in practical settings. The program culminates in a pitching event at Games Talk Live, taking place in Edinburgh, Dundee, and Glasgow from March 24 to March 26, 2026, where participants will present their game and business plans. According to Cian Roche, general manager of the SGDA, "This program will equip Scotland's emerging games talent with the essential business skills needed to thrive." Roche added, "By providing expert advice, feedback, and access to funding opportunities, participants will gain the confidence to transform their ideas into successful games businesses." The application window for the Games Accelerator program is open until October 15, 2025, at 5 pm BST, and is targeted at early-stage and aspiring games leaders based in Scotland. With limited spots available, a maximum of two applicants per studio or team can be accepted. Although the program is free to attend, financial support is available to cover the costs of mandatory in-person attendance. Applications can be submitted here. This development follows the recent launch of Interactive Entertainment Scotland (IES) by UKIE, a new organization dedicated to promoting Scotland's rapidly expanding games sector.
