French Voice Actress of Lara Croft Takes Action Against Aspyr Over Alleged AI-Generated Voice in Tomb Raider Remasters

Aspyr has released a patch to address the unauthorized use of AI-generated voice content in Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered. The update, released on September 23, 2025, removes all AI voiceover content while retaining previous improvements. This move comes after Françoise Cadol, the French voice of Lara Croft, issued a formal notice to Aspyr, accusing the company of using AI to replicate her voice without consent. Cadol was alerted to the issue by fans who noticed the similarities between her original voice and the one used in the remasters. According to Cadol's lawyer, Jonathan Elkaim, the AI-generated voice has a 'metallic impact' and lacks intonation, and was created using Cadol's original voice without permission. Elkaim claims that Aspyr misled consumers, while Cadol considers the replication of her voice a 'betrayal' and 'total disrespect' to fans. Aspyr has been requested to withdraw the compilation and provide documentation to determine the number of copies sold.
