Playstack Sees 52% YoY Revenue Growth in H1 2025

Playstack, the publisher behind Balatro, has released its interim financial report, showcasing a significant 52% year-over-year (YoY) increase in revenue for the first half of 2025. According to the report, which was included in its parent company TruFin's interim results, Playstack's revenue rose from £20.2 million ($27.3 million) in the first half of 2024 to £30.7 million ($41.5 million) in the first half of 2025. The company also announced that its titles, Balatro and Abiotic Factor, have collectively sold over three million units in the same period. Playstack highlighted its impressive 'hit ratio', which measures the percentage of games that generate a positive return on external development costs. The company attributed its strong performance in the second half of 2025 to the full release of Abiotic Factor on July 22, 2025, following its early access launch in May 2024. Meanwhile, Balatro continues to perform well, although its developer, LocalThunk, has delayed the game's next update to avoid crunch mode. Playstack's founder and CEO, Harvey Elliott, expressed confidence in the company's strategy, stating that '2025 has seen our momentum continue, as we work to the plan we've had from the beginning.' Elliott emphasized the importance of supporting developers and delivering excellence in publishing, which he believes is key to the company's success. In a previous interview, Elliott described Balatro as a 'game-changer' for Playstack and the industry, noting that its success has reinforced the company's strategy and given it increased confidence in its approach.
