US Xbox Console Prices to See Second Increase
Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox Series X and S console prices in the US will increase for the second time, with hikes ranging from $20 to $70 across different models. The new prices will take effect starting October 3, 2025, as attributed to changes in the broader economic landscape. This adjustment does not apply to controllers and headsets, which will maintain their current prices. Microsoft expressed understanding of the challenges these changes pose, stating they were made after careful consideration. The company remains committed to offering more gaming options across various screens and delivering value to Xbox enthusiasts. The updated prices are as follows: Xbox Series S 512GB will be $399.99 (previously $379.99), Xbox Series S 1TB will be $449.99 (previously $429.99), Xbox Series X Digital will be $599.99 (previously $549.99), Xbox Series X will be $649.99 (previously $599.99), and the Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition will be $799.99 (previously $729.99). This move follows a global price increase announced in May, which included a $100 rise for the Xbox Series X in the US, attributed to market conditions and increased development costs. The issue of console pricing has been under scrutiny, with concerns from industry figures like Capcom's president Haruhiro Tsujimoto regarding the impact of unchanged prices on mass-market game franchises.
