UKIE Introduces Interactive Entertainment Scotland to Foster Growth in the Region's Gaming Industry

UKIE has unveiled Interactive Entertainment Scotland, a specialized organization dedicated to supporting the country's burgeoning gaming industry. Established on September 17, 2025, this entity aims to serve as the primary advocate for Scottish game developers, collaborating closely with the Scottish government and local stakeholders to push for policies that drive industry growth. As an affiliate of UKIE, members of Interactive Entertainment Scotland will have access to tailored expertise and a wide range of services. According to Nick Poole, CEO of UKIE, 'Scotland has long been a crucial component of the UK's gaming success story.' The launch of Interactive Entertainment Scotland acknowledges the sector's significance and maturity in the region. This new entity will provide targeted, local representation for Scottish studios while maintaining the collective strength that comes with being part of the broader UK gaming ecosystem. Key areas of focus for Interactive Entertainment Scotland will include fostering business growth, attracting investment, and developing talent pipelines through partnerships with academic institutions. Richard Lochhead, Scotland's minister for business and employment, noted that 'the creation of a dedicated trade body to champion and collaborate across Scotland's renowned gaming sector is both timely and important.' With Scotland being the birthplace of iconic titles like Lemmings and Grand Theft Auto, the region's gaming industry has experienced remarkable growth. The number of gaming enterprises has increased from 15 in 2010 to 130, while the workforce has doubled from 1,045 in 2015 to 2,125 in 2023. Lochhead expressed his enthusiasm for working closely with Interactive Entertainment Scotland to build upon these achievements.
