Borderlands 4 Performance Defended by Gearbox CEO Amidst PC Issues

Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford has addressed complaints regarding Borderlands 4's optimization on PC, describing the game's performance as "pretty damn optimal". In a recent series of posts, Pitchford emphasized that PC gamers should acknowledge the connection between their hardware and the software they run. He noted that the game offers numerous tools to balance preferences between frame rate, resolution, and rendering features, allowing players to adjust settings according to their needs. Pitchford also suggested that it is reasonable for developers to focus on achieving 30fps on minimum specifications and 60fps on recommended specifications for a campaign looter shooter. He acknowledged that some players may need to make trade-offs between frame rate, features, and resolution to achieve their desired experience. Despite acknowledging some issues, Pitchford claimed that Borderlands 4 has few major problems, which affect only a small percentage of users, and that the development team is working to address these issues. However, he encouraged fans to make adjustments to prioritize their preferences rather than waiting for fixes. The game has received negative reviews on Steam due to performance and optimization issues, but it has still managed to surpass 300,000 concurrent players, making it one of the most-played games on the platform.
