Palworld Set to Launch in 2026 Despite Ongoing Lawsuit with Nintendo
Pocketpair, the developer of Palworld, is planning to release the game's 1.0 version in 2026, despite its ongoing legal dispute with Nintendo. In a recent YouTube video, the communications director of Palworld, Bucky, stated that the company's goal is to launch the full version of the game next year, with a significant amount of new content. However, before exiting early access, the company needs to resolve various issues and quirks that currently affect the game. According to Bucky, this process will begin this year, and as a result, the company will be less active for the remainder of the year. Although a winter update is still planned, it will not be as substantial as the previous Feybreak update. The reasoning behind the launch of Pocketpair's publishing arm, Pocketpair Publishing, was also explained, with the company aiming to support other developers and take risks. Pocketpair has already partnered with Surgent Studios for an upcoming horror title and is exploring other projects. The company's focus remains on Palworld, but it is also working on smaller projects and ideas. Meanwhile, the lawsuit with Nintendo, which was filed in September 2024 over alleged similarities between Palworld and Pokémon, continues, with Nintendo accusing Pocketpair of infringing on multiple patent rights.
