Ubisoft Undergoes Restructuring, Cutting Nine Roles to Facilitate New Subsidiary Launch

In a move to facilitate the launch of its new Tencent-backed subsidiary, Ubisoft has undertaken a restructuring effort, resulting in the elimination of nine positions, primarily within its publishing team. According to a statement provided to GamesIndustry.biz, this strategic decision aims to guarantee a smooth and efficient launch for the subsidiary. Originally reported by Game Developer on September 10, 2025, the restructuring involves transitioning some production and publishing teams to other Ubisoft brands and projects. Unfortunately, this change directly affects nine roles, with the company committed to providing support to those impacted. The new subsidiary, which focuses on the Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six brands, is part of Ubisoft's accelerated transformation, with Tencent investing €1.16bn to expand the games' ecosystems. Co-CEOs Christophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot lead the subsidiary. This round of layoffs follows previous restructuring efforts, including the reduction of 19 positions at the Tom Clancy: Ghost Recon studio, Red Storm, in July, and 185 jobs in January, as the company prioritizes projects and reduces costs.
