BAFTA Games in Concert Unveiled, Honoring 20 Years of Outstanding Game Soundtracks
The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has introduced BAFTA Games in Concert, a unique live event paying tribute to two decades of BAFTA-nominated and award-winning video game music. BAFTA made the announcement in a press release dated September 11, 2025, revealing the global premiere will occur on January 31, 2026, at the Royal Festival Hall, London. In partnership with Nibbs Events and Esk, the concert will feature the renowned BBC Concert Orchestra, led by Austin Wintory, the composer behind Journey and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, performing music from prominent nominees and winners of the BAFTA Game Awards’ Music category over the past 20 years. Attendees can expect to enjoy music from iconic games such as Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, Baldur’s Gate 3, Hitman: Contracts, Tomb Raider: Legend, Assassin’s Creed, Cuphead, and Journey, with additional special guests and selections to be revealed in the run-up to the event. BAFTA describes the concert as a 'musical journey,' hinting at a captivating experience that will combine visuals, gameplay, and live performance. "The opportunity to bring together a large orchestra, a group of talented composers, and the audience for whom it's all created is utterly thrilling, given how isolating composing can be," Wintory stated. "I feel deeply honored to have been asked to help organize and conduct this concert celebrating the vast range of game music that has been recognized by BAFTA over the last couple of decades." BAFTA Games in Concert will also embark on a UK and global tour in 2026, with details on these dates to be announced on the official website soon. Tickets for the London world premiere are now available, with prices starting at £28. "Game soundtracks have the power to captivate the hearts and imaginations of millions worldwide," said BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip. "This concert, along with the upcoming international tour, offers an excellent way to extend the celebration of the BAFTA Games Awards, bringing together fans, artists, and industry professionals. "We are proud to acknowledge the exceptional talent of the composers and invite fans to join us for an immersive evening of game music, starting this January."
