Life Is Strange TV Series in Development at Amazon MGM Studios
Amazon MGM Studios has given the green light to a live-action television series based on the popular video game Life Is Strange, which will stream on Prime Video. Charlie Covell, known for her work on The End of the F***ing World and Kaos, will serve as the showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Covell will be joined by executive producers Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson from Story Kitchen, with production handled by Story Kitchen, LuckyChap, Square Enix, and Amazon MGM Studios. Covell expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating that she is a huge fan of the game and looks forward to working with the teams at Square Enix, Story Kitchen, and LuckyChap to bring the story of Max and Chloe to life. Amazon MGM Studios head of US SVOD TV and development, Nick Pepper, also shared his excitement for the series, praising Covell's captivating story and the collaboration between the teams involved. The television adaptation has been in development for some time, with Legendary Television initially attached to produce. Square Enix studio heads Jon Brooke and Lee Singleton expressed their pleasure in partnering with Amazon MGM Studios, who they trust will do an amazing job in bringing the Life Is Strange universe to life. The video game series, created by Don't Nod Entertainment and published by Square Enix, debuted in 2015 and has since seen several developments, including a prequel, sequels, and spin-offs, with the franchise IP being sold to Square Enix in 2019.
