Dreamhaven Implements Restructuring Efforts, Resulting in Staff Reductions
Dreamhaven's co-founder and CEO, Mike Morhaime, has confirmed that the company is undergoing a restructuring process, which includes a round of layoffs. In a LinkedIn post, Morhaime stated that the decision to downsize the publishing group was made to mitigate the impact on the company. Although the exact number of affected employees has not been disclosed, Morhaime acknowledged the difficulty of the decision and expressed his gratitude to the departing colleagues for their contributions to Dreamhaven's growth. The company has offered separation packages and benefits coverage to support the transition of the affected employees and has partnered with Games Community to provide career transition resources and mentorship. Morhaime emphasized that despite the current challenges, he remains optimistic about Dreamhaven's future and the experiences that are still to come. It has been clarified that the ongoing development of Wildgate, Sunderfolk, and other projects will not be impacted by the layoffs. The restructuring efforts come after a report highlighted the company's financial challenges, with monthly expenses exceeding revenue. Dreamhaven was established in 2020 by Morhaime, following his tenure as president of Blizzard Entertainment.
