CD Projekt's H1 Profit Sees 4.3% Uptick to $121 Million
CD Projekt has released its financial report for the first half of 2025, revealing a 4.3% increase in sales revenue, which now stands at PLN 443 million, equivalent to $121 million. However, the company's net profit saw a 7.7% decline compared to the same period in 2024, dropping from PLN 170 million ($46.5 million) to PLN 155 million ($42.4 million). The rise in sales revenue is attributed to strong demand for Cyberpunk 2077 and its expansion, Phantom Liberty, as well as sustained sales of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Notably, The Witcher 3 has surpassed 60 million units sold, a decade after its release, while Phantom Liberty has sold 10 million copies within two years. According to CFO Piotr Nielubowicz, 'CD Projekt's revenue stream continues to be dominated by Cyberpunk 2077 and its Phantom Liberty expansion.' The company has also increased investments in ongoing projects, with development expenditures exceeding PLN 240 million ($65 million) in the first half of the year. The release of Cyberpunk 2077's Nintendo Switch 2 edition has contributed to higher sales, with 75.4% of unit sales being physical and 24.6% digital. The decision to use a 64GB cartridge instead of a Game Key Card for the physical edition was made to provide a 'plug and play experience' for players. Jan Rosner, VP of business development, emphasized the importance of physical editions, stating, 'Nintendo at physical retail is still strong, and retail is, in general, not going anywhere.' He also noted that physical editions are appreciated by Nintendo players when done correctly. The company has also provided an update on its employee headcount, with 730 developers working on games in production as of April 2024, primarily on The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2. By the end of July 2025, the total number of developers increased to 799, with most working on The Witcher 4. The total employee count at CD Projekt has risen by 8.6% to 1,248 by the end of the first half of 2025.
