Square Enix Discontinues Two Mobile Games After a Decade

Square Enix has announced the discontinuation of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius and Dragon Quest of the Stars in Japan, two mobile games that were launched in 2015 and were approaching their ten-year milestones on October 22 and October 15, respectively. The games will cease operations on October 31 at noon, Japan Standard Time. In statements posted on the games' official social media channels, Square Enix expressed gratitude to players for their long-standing support and apologized for the sudden announcement, citing the difficulty in maintaining a satisfactory service for customers. As a result, in-app purchases have been halted for both games. This decision comes on the heels of Square Enix's recent financial report, which revealed a decline in net sales and profit for the quarter ending June 30, 2025, including a 25% drop in revenue in the Digital Entertainment segment due to lower sales from new titles.
