As of August 21, the price of PlayStation 5 consoles in the US will be adjusted due to the current economic climate. According to a statement from Sony on the PlayStation Blog during Gamescom, the new suggested retail prices for all PS5 models will be: $549.99 for the base model, $499.99 for the digital edition, and $749.99 for the PS5 Pro. These prices represent an increase from the previous prices of $499.99 for the base model, $449.99 for the digital edition, and $699.99 for the PS5 Pro. Sony stated, "Like many global companies, we are facing economic difficulties, which has led to the decision to raise the recommended retail price of PS5 consoles in the US, effective August 21." The company emphasized that prices for accessories will not change and confirmed there are no plans to announce price adjustments for other markets at this time. Recently, it was reported that the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5 has sold over three million copies, making it the best-selling new PS5 game of 2025 so far.
