Nexon Probes Allegations of Unauthorized AI-Generated Ads on TikTok
Update, Wednesday, August 20, 2025: Following the emergence of unauthorized AI-generated advertisements on TikTok, Nexon has issued a statement apologizing for the inconvenience and emphasizing that TikTok lacks a system to verify potential copyright infringement in ads submitted through the TikTok Creative Challenge. According to the statement posted on X/Twitter, the creator responsible for the unauthorized use of DanieltheDemon's content has been blocked. Nexon clarified that it does not use creator advertisements in regular posts but rather displays them when users access The First Descendant's official account through advertisements. The company stressed that the ads were not posted and then deleted, as it may have appeared. Nexon has promised to enhance its advertisement and marketing review processes. The full statement is available. The investigation was launched after players noticed AI-generated ads on TikTok, including one that used a content creator's likeness without permission. Nexon initially apologized for the delay in providing notice, stating that the review is taking longer than expected, and announced a joint investigation with TikTok to determine the facts. The company has yet to respond to DanieltheDemon's claim that his likeness was used without consent.
