Treyarch Leverages AI to Enhance Human-Generated Art, Not Supplant It

According to Miles Leslie, associate creative director at Treyarch, the studio employs AI to refine and accelerate the art creation process, rather than replacing human artists. Leslie emphasized that while AI tools are used to aid the team, all content that makes it into the game is meticulously reviewed and polished by human team members. "We're living in an era where AI tools are prevalent, and we're using them to streamline our workflow, not to replace the talented individuals who bring our games to life," Leslie explained. He reiterated that the company's stance on AI is clear: it's a tool to support the team, not to supplant them. This approach was reaffirmed after Activision Blizzard allegedly greenlit the use of generative AI tools like Midjourney and Stable Diffusion for concept art and marketing materials in July 2024.
