Parco Enters Indie Game Publishing with New Label

Parco, a prominent Japanese retailer, has unveiled its foray into the world of indie game publishing with the launch of Parco Games. The new publishing arm aims to capitalize on the company's extensive network of department stores to promote and distribute its titles. As a well-known shopping mall operator in Japan, Parco is home to official stores for major gaming companies like Sony, Nintendo, and Capcom, and has also hosted various pop-up shops and events, including the Death Stranding 2 Japan pop-up tour. Parco Games plans to make its debut at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show, where it will showcase its inaugural titles: Nova Antarctica, Constance, and The Berlin Apartment, all slated for release in winter 2025. According to the publisher's website, Parco has long been a part of Japan's diverse cultural landscape, and believes that games are an integral aspect of this culture. By venturing into game publishing, the company seeks to explore and realize its potential in the gaming industry, alongside fellow game enthusiasts. This move is part of a larger trend, with several other new indie publishers emerging this year, including Lyrical Games, Six One Indie Publishing, The CoLab, and Three Friends.
