Introducing Mental Health Star Accreditation by Safe in Our World
Safe in Our World has introduced the Mental Health Star Accreditation program, which recognizes and endorses companies that adhere to its rigorous criteria, as set by the mental health charity. Launched on August 19, 2025, this innovative accreditation is specifically designed for the games industry and was created by experts at the forefront of game development and mental health. The program was designed to be flexible and adaptable to the diverse needs of companies within the gaming sector. To apply, companies undergo a thorough audit of their mental health policies, practices, and culture, receiving a comprehensive report outlining strengths and areas for improvement. Upon meeting the criteria, companies are awarded one of three endorsement tiers: Dedicated, Accomplished, or Outstanding. The accreditation is valid for up to three years, with annual check-ins, support, and a media kit. Available globally, pricing starts at £1,000 ($1352) for the three-year certification, scaling according to organization size. Companies that do not meet the criteria receive a detailed report and guidance to improve, with the option to resubmit at a later time. The entire process is confidential, but accredited companies are encouraged to share their results.
