Studio Atelico Secures $5 Million in Funding to Revolutionize AI-Driven Game Development
Studio Atelico has successfully raised $5 million in a seed funding round, which will be utilized to drive the company's mission to redefine the role of artificial intelligence in the gaming sector. This investment round was led by Nathan Benaich of Air Street Capital, with other notable investors including Chris RĂ©, a renowned computer scientist from Stanford, Thomas Wolf, co-founder and CSO of Hugging Face, and Alex Ratner, co-founder and CEO of Snorkel AI. Founded in 2024 by veterans of the AI and gaming industries from prominent companies such as Uber, Meta, and Creative Assembly, Studio Atelico is currently developing an on-device AI engine designed for video games. This innovative engine is described as a comprehensive toolkit that enables the creation of AI-powered experiences without the need for substantial budgets or customized infrastructure. In addition to building this engine, the company is leveraging the funding to develop games that transcend traditional hand-authored pipelines. The company envisions creating immersive reactive worlds, characters that dynamically respond to player choices, and narratives that evolve and adapt in complex ways. Studio Atelico's first game is already in production, with more details to be announced soon. According to Air Street Press, the studio's initial releases will focus on high-growth mobile and cross-platform markets. In response to ethical concerns surrounding generative AI, Studio Atelico has emphasized its commitment to ethics as a core foundation of its operations. The company is working closely with artists to ensure fairness, consent, compensation, and collaboration throughout every stage of the development process, from model training to revenue sharing. By prioritizing on-device AI, partnering with like-minded creators, and contributing to open datasets that emphasize ethics over speed, Studio Atelico aims to amplify human creativity rather than replace it.
