Nexon Exceeds Expectations with Q2 2025-26 Results Despite Year-over-Year Declines

Nexon has announced its Q2 2025-26 financial results, boasting stronger-than-anticipated performance despite year-over-year drops in revenue, operating income, and net income. Key titles such as Maple Story and Dungeon & Fighter maintained renewed momentum throughout the period. The combined Q2 revenue of Nexon's three main franchises - Dungeon & Fighter, Maple Story, and FC Online - saw a 13% year-over-year decline, attributed to the expected decrease in Dungeon & Fighter Mobile revenue following its Q2 2024 launch. For Q2 2025, the financial highlights include: revenue of ¥118.9 billion ($804.7 million), a 3% year-over-year decrease; operating income of ¥37.7 billion ($255.2 million), down 17% year-over-year; and net income of ¥16.8 billion ($113.7 million), a 58% year-over-year decline. Nexon noted that The First Descendant's Q2 performance was within expectations, with the upcoming Season 3 launch anticipated to nearly triple quarterly revenue. The Finals exceeded expectations, driven by the well-received June/Season 7 update, and began closed alpha testing in China. Following a successful tech test in May, ARC Raiders is gaining recognition and player enthusiasm, currently ranking third on Steam's Top Wishlists chart worldwide, with a scheduled release date of October 30. Dungeon & Fighter experienced a solid recovery in Q2, with a 67% year-over-year revenue growth, although the total franchise revenue declined 40% year-over-year due to the Q2 2024 mobile launch. Nexon forecasts a further 45% decline in Q3 but expects this to be partially offset by growth in PC sales. Maple Story continued to deliver exceptional results, with 60% year-over-year revenue growth driven by the strength of Korea MapleStory and the regional expansion of MapleStory Worlds. This momentum is expected to continue into the next quarter, with projected 70% year-over-year growth. According to Junghun Lee, president and CEO of Nexon, 'Nexon delivered a highly positive performance with better-than-expected results in the second quarter, reigniting growth in key titles, creating momentum for recent launches, and successfully introducing new services to expand our presence in large markets worldwide.'
