Crimson Desert Release Pushed to Early 2026
Pearl Abyss has confirmed that its highly anticipated open-world RPG, Crimson Desert, will now be launched in the first quarter of 2026, marking a delay from its previously planned release in the fourth quarter of the current fiscal year. This announcement was made during the company's second-quarter earnings call, as reported by Gematsu. According to Pearl Abyss, the reason for the delay stems from longer-than-expected development timelines, largely due to the complexities of coordinating schedules and collaborating with multiple partners on various aspects such as offline distribution, voice-over work, console certification, and other launch preparations. The company views this decision as a strategic move to ensure the game's success on a significant scale, rather than rushing to meet an earlier deadline. Although a new release window has been confirmed, a specific launch date has not been disclosed. Pearl Abyss stated that the release date will be announced at a later time, taking into account business considerations, rather than revealing it at the upcoming Gamescom event. In a previous interview with GamesIndustry.biz in 2023, former Pearl Abyss America CEO Jeonghee "JJ" Jin shared insights into the development process of Crimson Desert.
