Devcom Speaker Survey Reveals Diverse Views on AI Adoption
A recent survey among Devcom speakers has shed light on the gaming industry's stance on AI, with 33% of respondents expressing a desire to limit AI usage, while 32% recognize its potential in coding and production. The use of AI in art and animation garnered less enthusiasm, with only 11% in favor, and even fewer supporting its use in marketing and narrative design. Economic and political uncertainty was cited as the biggest challenge facing the industry by 56% of respondents, closely followed by market saturation and rising development costs. Interestingly, 46% of speakers anticipate a significant shift towards cloud and digital services by major platform holders in the near future. This year's Devcom, taking place from August 17-19 in Cologne, Germany, promises over 350 speakers and 200 sessions. Key features include a dedicated roundtable stage, an expansive expo stage, and a range of keynote sessions, including talks from Minh Le, creator of Counter-Strike, and the creators of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Other notable speakers include Michel Nohra, Zeke Virant, and David Fox, who will share insights and experiences from the forefront of game development. Newly announced events include 'Viva La Game Dev' and 'Mario Kart World: Beat the Pros', offering a mix of entertainment and competition for attendees.
