US Nintendo Switch Prices to Undergo Changes

Nintendo has revealed plans to introduce pricing updates for its range of Nintendo Switch consoles and select accessories in the US, effective next week. In a statement released on August 1, the company revealed that the pricing for its original Nintendo Switch family of systems and products will be adjusted in the United States, citing market conditions, starting August 3. The pricing changes are confirmed to impact the original Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch OLED, and Nintendo Switch Lite, as well as a specific selection of accessories. Additionally, certain Nintendo Switch accessories, select amiibo, and the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo will also be subject to these pricing updates. Although Nintendo has not disclosed the specifics of the pricing changes, recent updates on Target's pricing show a significant increase, with the original Switch now priced at $339.99, up 13.3% from $299.99, the Switch OLED at $399.99, up 14.29% from $349.99, and the Switch Lite at $229.99, up 15% from $199.99. For now, the prices of the Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch Online membership, and games for both the original and newer systems will remain unchanged, but the company cautions that future price adjustments may be necessary. This announcement follows closely on the heels of Nintendo's recent financial report for the quarter ending June 30, which reported a doubling of quarterly revenue.
