Microsoft Dominates PlayStation Sales in Q2 2025 with Six Top Games
In the second quarter of 2025, Microsoft-published games accounted for six of the top ten best-selling titles on PlayStation, as reported by Circana's executive director and video game analyst, Mat Piscatella. The rankings, based on dollar sales including both physical and digital sales from participating publishers, reveal that Microsoft's Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Minecraft, Doom: The Dark Ages, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion: Remastered, and Forza Horizon 5 secured ninth, eighth, sixth, fifth, third, and second places, respectively. The only title preventing a Microsoft monopoly of the top three spots is Bandai Namco's Elden Ring: Nightreign, which claimed the top position. On Xbox, Microsoft published four of the top ten games, while Take-Two's 2K25 sports series, including WWE 2K25, NBA 2K25, and PGA Tour 2K25, took three spots. Bandai's Elden Ring: Nightreign also led the best-seller chart on Microsoft platforms. Meanwhile, on Nintendo platforms, Mario Kart World, launched alongside the Nintendo Switch 2, topped the chart, with seven of the top ten games published by Nintendo, and Cyberpunk 2077, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, and Hogwart's Legacy also making the list.
