The creative force behind Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be joining forces with BAFTA at the inaugural Game Republic New Horizons conference, a flagship event tailored for the North of England. Axel Torvenius, the visionary creative director of MachineGames, will participate in an exclusive BAFTA interview session, moderated by Luke Hebblethwaite, BAFTA's head of games. According to Jamie Sefton, managing director of Game Republic, "This collaboration showcases the boundless potential of storytelling in gaming and aligns perfectly with the conference's theme, which explores the intersection of film and gaming, among other innovative opportunities." Sefton emphasized the significance of this grassroots-driven conference, stating, "As a network born and built in the North, we're committed to delivering exceptional speakers and guests, and we have more exciting announcements in store for the coming weeks." Game Republic New Horizons is scheduled to take place on October 16, 2025, at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium, featuring a comprehensive program that includes an expo, roundtable discussions, bookable meetings, and an after-party with an array of activities. Early bird tickets are available until the end of July, with a discounted price of £99. Dr. Jackie Mulligan, co-director of the conference, noted, "This event marks a significant milestone for the Northern gaming industry, as it will delve into emerging opportunities, markets, investments, technologies, and games, while also celebrating the outstanding work being done across the region, the UK, and internationally. It's an occasion to look toward the future while acknowledging our current achievements."
