U.S. History Sees Nintendo Switch 2 as the Fastest-Selling Console

The Nintendo Switch 2 has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the fastest-selling console in the U.S., with 1.6 million units sold during its debut month. This surpasses the previous record held by Sony, which sold 1.1 million PlayStation 4 units in November 2013. According to Circana's data, the Nintendo Switch 2 dominated June's video game hardware sales in terms of dollar sales and units sold. Although the PS5 remains the top-selling console of 2025, the Nintendo Switch 2's launch contributed to a significant 22% year-over-year increase in hardware, content, and accessory sales for the month. Circana's executive director, Mat Piscatella, confirmed that video game hardware and accessories have reached unprecedented highs in June 2025. This news comes as Nintendo announces a new Switch 2 bundle, set to launch alongside Pokémon Legends: Z-A in October.
