Ubisoft Names Christophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot as Co-CEOs of New Tencent-Backed Venture
Following a significant investment from Tencent, Ubisoft has established a new subsidiary and appointed Christophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot as its co-CEOs. This move is part of the company's efforts to accelerate its transformation and expand the reach of its key franchises, including Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six. Derennes, formerly the Managing Director for North America, and Guillemot, the son of Ubisoft's co-founder Yves Guillemot, will bring their combined expertise and knowledge to drive the subsidiary's growth. According to Yves Guillemot, their primary focus will be on defining the strategic vision for the brands, fostering a high-performing team environment, and ensuring that the needs of players remain at the forefront. The co-CEOs are tasked with empowering the development teams to achieve new milestones. Addressing concerns about nepotism, Charlie Guillemot emphasized that his appointment is based on his experience and the skills he brings to the role, rather than solely on his family connections.
