Epic Games Takes Legal Action Against Fortnite Cheater and Cyber Attacker
Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite, has confirmed that it has initiated legal proceedings against two individuals, one accused of cheating and the other of orchestrating a cyber attack through DDoS attacks. In a statement released on the Epic Games Newsroom Twitter account, the company stated: "We have taken legal action against two individuals who cheated and violated our rules. One sold and used cheats, while the other carried out cyber attacks on content creators who were livestreaming gameplay, resulting in DDoS attacks. Both have been ordered to cease these activities and are banned from playing Fortnite. There are consequences for breaking the rules. You can view their messages to the Fortnite community." A follow-up tweet linked to a video from YouTuber Mirrored, in which he publicly apologized to the Fortnite community for "cheating in Fortnite tournaments and selling and distributing cheats and hardware that enabled others to cheat." He stated: "I violated Epic's rules and they have taken legal action against me. I am banned from playing Fortnite forever and will face further legal action if I sell or distribute cheats again." A separate video from YouTuber Zebsi contained a written apology, stating: "I recently carried out DDoS attacks in Fortnite under the username TTV Humpty.LLC, which impacted Fortnite matches of streamers and other users involved in those matches. I am sorry for the DDoS attacks and the harm and damage they caused to the streamers, other players, and Epic Games. My accounts have been banned from Fortnite, and I regret my actions and will not be involved in any more DDoS attacks." Neither individual commented further on the legal action taken against them or confirmed if they had been sanctioned in any other way. These latest developments are part of Epic Games' ongoing efforts to crack down on cheating and cyber attacks, including lawsuits against cheat software developers and players caught cheating in professional tournaments.
