Don't Nod, Developer of Lost Records, Confirms Staff Reductions
In a recent update, Don't Nod expressed regret over the necessity of layoffs following the completion of Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, citing the need for a new round of staff reductions at its Montreal studio. The decision was made after exhausting all alternatives and reflects the challenging economic conditions faced by the company. The studio expressed gratitude to the affected team members for their dedication and contributions to the project, acknowledging their crucial role in bringing Lost Records to life. Initial reports emerged when several colleagues posted about the layoffs on their LinkedIn profiles, describing it as another wave of layoffs in the gaming industry. Although the exact number of affected staff remains undisclosed, impacted roles include quality assurance, artists, and level designers. A former colleague described the layoffs as a significant portion of the relatively small team. Don't Nod has been contacted for a statement. This year, an estimated 2500 developers have lost their jobs, with recent cuts at EA, including Respawn, People Can Fly, Jagex, and Build a Rocket Boy.
