Fortnite Players Eligible for Refunds Due to Unauthorized Transactions

The United States Federal Trade Commission has reactivated the refund process for Fortnite players who made unintentional purchases. In a recent move, the FTC distributed over $126 million in refunds, mailing out 969,173 checks and PayPal payments to eligible claimants. The deadline for new claims is set for July 9, 2025. This comes after an initial round of refunds in December, which saw payments exceeding $72 million. To date, the FTC has issued over $200 million in refunds to players affected by Epic Games' deceptive business practices. The refund initiative follows a 2022 settlement between the FTC and Epic Games, in which the game developer agreed to pay $520 million for violating online child protection laws and employing manipulative tactics.
