UK's National Videogame Museum Set to Shine at World Expo 2025
The National Videogame Museum is teaming up with the UK Pavilion at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, scheduled to take place from July 18 to July 24. The museum's exhibit, 'Videogames Transforming Lives,' will boast interactive displays that showcase the UK's pioneering role in creating inclusive and innovative game designs. A key feature will be a collaboration with the UK charity SpecialEffect, which will introduce its EyeMine 2 software. This technology allows individuals with physical disabilities to play Minecraft using eye-tracking technology. A curated selection of games, including PowerWash Simulator and Sackboy: A Big Adventure, will be showcased to highlight the wealth of talent within the UK's gaming sector. Visitors will also be treated to an immersive experience featuring large-scale imagery from Ustwo's Monument Valley, along with the opportunity to engage with the game hands-on. According to John O'Shea, the National Video Game Museum's creative director and co-CEO, 'Video games play a vital role in UK culture and the economy, and we're proud to demonstrate our global leadership in game development through three customized exhibits that share stories of innovation, inclusivity, and collaboration.' The UK business and trade minister, Gareth Thomas, added that the National Videogame Museum's exhibition offers a captivating experience, underscoring the UK's world-class video game industry as a prime example of British innovation, which not only entertains gamers worldwide but also contributes to the nation's economic growth.
