Stellar Blade Sets Record as Sony's Most Popular Game on Steam by Player Count
Stellar Blade has become the largest single-player game published by PlayStation on Steam in terms of concurrent player count. Although Helldivers 2, a multiplayer title, holds the overall record for Sony with a peak of over 450,000 players, Stellar Blade has exceeded the concurrent player records of similar single-player games such as Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, and Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, which have peaks of 77,154, 73,529, and 66,436 players respectively. Currently, Stellar Blade has over 183,000 concurrent players, a record that has been broken multiple times and is expected to increase over the weekend. Released on PC on June 11, the game has received an 'overwhelmingly positive' user review on Valve's platform. Following the cancellation of a live service concept, Bend Studio, a Sony first-party studio, announced layoffs on June 11.
