Cobra Mobile Closes Its Doors After Two Decades

UK-based game development studio Cobra Mobile has ceased operations. According to an interview with The Courier, CEO Mark Ettle attributed the decision to a combination of unfortunate events, including the passing of the company's chairman, Peter Mackintosh, and the financial struggles of key clients, resulting in significant debt. Ettle noted that the current decline in the gaming sector has made it increasingly challenging for the company to move forward with its planned roadmap. Despite the difficulties, Ettle expressed pride in the company's 20-year history, highlighting its numerous award-winning titles, such as Storm In A Teacup and iBomber, and the recognition it received for its business practices. Ettle acknowledged that the shutdown is not an isolated incident, but rather a symptom of the broader industry downturn, with unforeseen events and circumstances ultimately leading to the company's demise. Founded in 2005, Cobra Mobile developed games for various platforms, including iOS, Android, Steam, and Nintendo.
