Nintendo Switch 2 Shatters Records with 3.5 Million Units Sold Globally in Four Days

The Nintendo Switch 2 has achieved a remarkable milestone, with over 3.5 million units sold worldwide within its first four days of release. This figure encompasses sales of the Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle, as well as Japanese-language and multi-language systems. In a notable comparison, the original Switch sold 2.7 million units in its first month of release back in 2017. Prior to the Switch 2's launch, Nintendo projected hardware sales of 15 million units and software sales of 45 million by March 2026, anticipating a 63% increase in net sales during this period. According to a report by Ampere Analysis, it is expected that over 13 million players will purchase the Switch 2 in 2025. Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic response, stating, "Fans worldwide are embracing Switch 2 as an enhanced way to enjoy gaming both at home and on-the-go. We are delighted to see the excitement and joy that Switch 2 is bringing to gamers as they discover new features and games that foster connections among friends and family in innovative ways."
