Apple Introduces Forthcoming Gaming Platform

Apple has introduced a new gaming application, Apple Games, slated for release this fall across all its devices. The announcement was made during the 2025 Worldwide Developers Conference, where it was revealed that the application would integrate the Game Center application with the gaming section of the App Store, and also include a direct link to Apple Arcade, the company's gaming subscription service. According to Apple, the new application serves as "a one-stop gaming hub where players can stay updated on their games, find new ones, and engage in multiplayer activities with friends." The application will retain Game Center features, including achievements, challenges, leaderboards, and other multiplayer functions. The Apple Games application will come pre-installed on devices running iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and MacOS 26 or later. Currently, it is available in beta and will be accessible to all customers later this year. Last month, a report by Bloomberg indicated that Apple was working on a dedicated gaming application for its devices, described as a "launcher for game titles" designed to "consolidate in-game achievements, leaderboards, and other activities."
