SAG-AFTRA Reaches Tentative Deal with Major Game Developers to End Strike

A tentative agreement has been reached between SAG-AFTRA and a coalition of major game studios and publishers, which includes representatives from prominent companies such as Activision, Electronic Arts, and WB Games. The agreement is subject to review and approval by the national board and ratification by the membership council. Once these steps are completed, the specifics of the terms will be disclosed. In the meantime, SAG-AFTRA members will remain on strike until a formal agreement is finalized. The union's national executive director, Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, expressed gratitude for the sacrifices made by video game performers and praised the dedication of the negotiating committee. SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher commended the video game performers for their courage and persistence, stating that the deal marks a significant step forward. The strike, which began in July, was authorized by 98% of union members in September 2023 to protect video game actors and performers from the impact of generative AI and ensure job security.
