Sony Introduces Project Defiant, a Custom Fight Stick Designed In-House

Sony has confirmed the development of its own in-house designed fight stick. The announcement was made during PlayStation's State of Play event on June 4, where the company revealed its ultra-low latency wireless stick, codenamed Project Defiant. The device is expected to be available for purchase in 2026, although a specific price point has not been determined. According to Edwin Foo, VP for product development, "Project Defiant boasts a high-quality, custom-designed digital stick, developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment." The controller features interchangeable restrictor gates that can be swapped without the need for tools, mechanical switches for the buttons, and a touchpad similar to the one found on the DualSense wireless controller. The device is built with a sturdy, ergonomic design, providing a comfortable grip during extended gaming sessions. For added convenience, the controller includes a storage compartment for the restrictor gates and a PS Link USB adapter. Additionally, Project Defiant supports the ability to wake up the PS5 console wirelessly by pressing and holding the PS button. Further details regarding the controller's final name and launch date are expected to be released in the coming months.
