Playtika Announces Significant Job Cuts, Impacting Israeli and Polish Teams

It has been reported that Playtika has reduced its workforce by as many as 160 positions, with the layoffs affecting teams located in Israel and Poland. According to a report by Mobilegamer.biz, one source indicated that a team of over 200 had been downsized to approximately 40, while another source suggested at least 80 employees were let go from the company's Polish offices. News of the layoffs has been shared by affected employees on LinkedIn, including talent acquisition specialist Natalia Santorek, Unity developer Filip Gralak, and Best Fiends level designer Lee Shapira. The layoffs are said to have impacted various roles, including engineering, level design, art, and QA, with PocketGamer reporting that the Best Fiends and Redecor teams were primarily affected. Despite being contacted for comment, Playtika declined to provide further information on the number of job losses. This development comes after the company laid off around 50 employees from its subsidiary Wooga last month. Playtika had previously reduced its staff by 10% in January 2024 and eliminated two executive positions as part of a leadership restructuring in May. The company acquired the studio behind Best Fiends, Seriously, in 2019, and later acquired Redecor developer Reworks in 2021 for a deal worth up to $400 million.
