Unreal Engine 2025: Unlocking New Possibilities with MetaHuman, UEFN, RealityScan 2.0, and UE 5.6

Epic's State of Unreal presentation has announced the availability of Unreal Engine 5.6, focusing on empowering developers to craft high-fidelity, large-scale open worlds that run smoothly at 60 frames per second on current consoles, PCs, and mobile devices. The release also introduces MetaHuman 5.6, a powerful digital human toolset now integrated into UE 5.6, and features an updated EULA allowing the use of MetaHuman characters and animations across various engines and software. Additionally, Epic is sharing the underlying technology behind Fortnite's Darth Vader AI NPC with the creator community and has launched the Epic Developer Assistant, an AI-powered tool currently in beta. The company has also provided an update on the Unreal Editor for Fortnite, highlighting 11.2 billion hours spent in creator-made islands, and announced upcoming partnerships, including Lego experiences starting June 17. Furthermore, RealityScan 2.0 is set to launch, combining desktop and mobile versions with features like AI-powered masking and smarter image alignment. Lastly, the Epic Games Store has reportedly paid over $2.1 billion to developer and publisher partners since its launch, with its mobile version offering 70 games and achieving 40 million installs to date.
